About Dr. Larson
Biography
Board-certified orthopedic surgeon Christopher M. Larson earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School-Twin Cities. He completed his orthopedic residency at the University of North Carolina and an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at the Minneapolis Sports Medicine Center in Minneapolis. In 2008 Dr. Larson received his Subspecialty Certification in Orthopedic Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.Dr. Larson sees patients at the Minnesota Orthopedic Sports Medicine Institute in Eden Prairie. He serves as Director of Education for the Minnesota Sports Medicine and Director of Education and as faculty for the MOSMI/ Fairview Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship program. He is a Master Instructor for the AANA hip arthroscopy course in Chicago and teaches arthroscopic hip surgical techniques to surgeons from around the World. In addition to his academic duties he severs as a peer reviewer for multiple orthopedic journals. Dr. Larson is a team physician for the Minnesota Vikings, Augsburg College, and Edina High School and for the Minnesota State High School League. He provides medical coverage for many community sports events, including the U.S.A. Cup Soccer tournaments. Dr. Larson has been nominated as a "Top Doc" by the Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and by Minnesota Monthly in 2010.
His special orthopedic interests are arthroscopic hip joint preservation surgery which includes arthroscopic labral repairs and management of femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) Dr. Larson also focuses on knee reconstruction and proximal hamstring repair. He is a published author in numerous peer-reviewed journals on such topics hip arthroscopy, FAI, proximal hamstring repair, and ACL reconstruction. Current research interests include hip arthroscopy and ACL reconstruction outcomes.
